This trip is a GO! Final price with air is $2995. This trip will go out in August of 2010 and starts and ends in London. It is a land tour meaning travel by motorcoach. I chose this date as it features the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, a once a year event. 2010 is the Diamond Jubilee of the Tattoo.
The tour is with Collette and features a tour of London including a London theater experience, a visit to Cambridge, a tour of York including a visit to York Minster, a tour of Edinburgh including a visit to the Palace of Holyroodhouse, an overnight stay in Ruthin Castle in Wales including a medieval feast, a visit to the Roman Bath museum in Bath, a visit to Stonehenge, a vist to Shakespeare’s Stratford-Upon-Avon, and of course, an evening at the Military Tattoo while in Edinburgh.
The price without air is $1849 per person and includes accommodations, airport transfers, breakfast and dinner and the tours listed above. I’m in the process of looking for air now to complete the package.
More information about the Tattoo can be found at http://www.edin.tattoo.co.uk

I’ve got a group going to Ireland in February with CIE. Now the average temperature in Dublin is 46 in February, but keep in mind that the highest average they have in Dublin is in July and is 66.
I was last in Ireland in March and it was beautiful! Because of the moderate temperatures it really did show the 40 shades of green! The thatched roof houses and the wee towns and 200 year old pubs are just as welcoming in February as in July.
The people of Ireland are just great and to me are reason enough to visit the country. Everyone in Ireland has relatives here in the States and they are always willing to strike up a conversation and probably lift a pint or two.
This trip sold for $1365 per person and includes round trip air from Newark, a bus from Annapolis to Newark, accommodations, most meals and entrance fees to numerous sites. It also includes the Merry Ploughboy traditional Irish music show and the Bunratty Castle Medieval Dinner Show, which everyone has to see at least once.

Now this is a great deal! A 7 night Mediterranean cruise on Royal Caribbean (oceanview cabin) with a 4 hour private tour of Barcelona and roundtrip air from DCA for $1796 per person. That also includes prepaid tips! We’re leaving on October 31 and returning on November 8.
In my opinion there is no other way you’re going to get to go to Spain, France and Italy, have your hotel, meals and transportation for this price, other than traveling by ship and in the shoulder season.
I’ll let you know when we return if it was worth it!

I’m getting a group together for December 13 through 20, 2010 to do a Uniworld river cruise on the Seine. The gist is to visit the “City of Lights” all dressed up for the holidays and to visit the nearby Christmas Markets. The boat is your hotel and includes 2 meals a day and tours. When you consider the cost of hotels and food in Paris, the river cruise is an excellent value.
I think that Uniworld gives the best value for river cruises as there is more included in their price. They include wine with dinner, specialty coffees and more tours than Viking. My clients who have traveled on Uniworld have been very impressed with the quality of their tour guides.
I’m really excited about this one but have to wait a few more months to get the air so I can finalize the price. Stay tuned for more info!

I’ve just returned from an amazing 7 night Celebrity cruise to Alaska. I traveled in the “shoulder season”- September, on Celebrity’s next to the last cruise for the year. Why? Because it was AFFORDABLE! My previous visit to Alaska was 10 years ago on Celebrity during May, the beginning of the season and AFFORDABLE.
Having done both I can honestly say I recommend the September sailing because the wildlife was more abundant. During May the bears were not yet out and the salmon wasn’t running.
During my September visit I saw bear, eagle, harbour seals, salmon swimming up waterfalls, humpback and orca whales and otter. Members of my group were able to zip line, flightsee, hike and I went kayaking.
As Alaska gets 14 feet of rain per year, there’s always a chance of having to do an activity in the rain (they don’t cancel!) but our September group literally had perfect weather every day!
For all persons willing to travel in the “shoulder season” I recommend September over May.
