| Greetings from Lani at Best Connection Travel ! I’ve just returned from a 7 night eco-tour of the Galapagos Islands and I’d like to tell you about it. 16 of us met up in Quito, Ecuador, about a 6 hour flight from here. Though we each came from different areas of the US, we were pleased with how easy it was to get there. In Quito we boarded the sailboat which was to be our home for the next 7 nights. We visited a different island each day and had numerous encounters with wildlife, both above and below the waves. Sea lions, iguanas, blue footed boobies, sea turtles, penguins and more!

The Galapagos Islands are part of Ecuador’s national park system, and are closely protected. The number of visitors and the length of time each is allowed on the islands is carefully controlled. Because of this, we had to make our reservations a year in advance! Our naturalist guides taught us that each island has unique characteristics and so we had to be careful not to transport sand or vegetation from one island to the next.
