BELIZE ADVENTURE!

EASY! Belize is a small nation located in Central America south of the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. 1hr. 45min from Miami or Houston will land you in this special country. Belize is the only English speaking country in Central America. The US dollar is accepted everywhere, and the country uses the same units of measurement as the USA (feet, miles, pounds, farenheit, etc.).

BEAUTIFUL! Belize is one of the most unique places on earth due to her extremely low population density (pop.  300,000). Her wealth of tropical rainforests, pine forests, rich farmlands, and barrier reef systems, which are dotted with hundreds of small islands (cayes) have been protected and her 3 spectacular atolls have been named world heritage sites.

The sea life and  animals that populate the waters and forests of Belize still thrive in the pure protected environments needed to sustain rare species from Manatee to Jaguars.

Birds of every size and color make Belize their seasonal home as they travel their annual migratory routes.

CULTURALLY RICH! The Belizean people are drawn from multiple cultures from around the world. Descendants of the original Maya inhabit the interior along with Mestizo  (a mixture of Mayan and Spanish settlers) and the Garifuna people (a blend of African slaves and Caribe Indians) can be found along the coast. The balance of the population is a true melting pot. As the center of the Mayan culture, there are over 400 ruins to visit and explore.

This singular country is graced with friendly people, spectacular mountains, virgin forests, crystal clear rivers, fertile farmland, coastal savannahs, and the second largest  coral reef system in the world.

If you love nature, you will love Belize!

Ruby Degenhard of Best Connection Travel has just returned from Belize where she met with about 100 resort owners, managers and tour operators throughout the country. In her spare time she was able to climb Mayan ruins, snorkel, canoe, tour by boat and by helicopter, and attend several cultural shows.
" I was impressed by everyone's commitment to creating and maintaining a tourism economy that is ecologically friendly. We did see some larger resorts on the cayes, but for the most part the resorts and lodges are locally owned and therefore the owners care about the fragile environment.  Between the jungle and the islands, there is something here for everyone. This is a great family destination. I did learn that not all adventure tour operators are created equal and advise you to check out the tour operators certifications and training before putting your money down (and your life vest on!). For an adventure tour, just being licensed in Belize is not enough."

I want to say hello to Chris, Amirah, Ricky, Julio, Julio, Fabricio, Moty, Ligia and Leah; my Belizean adventure FAMILY. And I want to thank all of the resorts, lodges, restaurants, and tour operators who shared their wonderful country with us.
